A paradox in this story is the government. Hours into the story people were afraid to say anything to affect what the thought of the government in East Germany, but now they insist on partying. They are so happy that after so many years, the wall is finally down and they can get to the other side of Germany without getting into any trouble. Olli’s father is very nervous because he has never had this kind of freedom. This is a paradox because the people that lived in East Germany can finally say what they want and when they want and they don’t have to worry about the consequences that will follow what they say. Everyone in East Germany whether they were low class of high ranking came together to celebrate the wall coming down. Olli’s father had spent a bunch of his time defending the government and now he was in celebration that it had finally came down.
